Co-creation sessions:
microplastics in everyday life
Our first co-creation sessions focused on the concerns that people have in their every-day life, related to microplastics. We co-created maps with 16 participants who were all familiar with microplastics and had concerns and perceptions about them. We hosted one session in Amsterdam, at De Ceuvel and one at the Texel plastic Vrij.

Co-creating maps

Participants created a set of different maps that investigated:
-What microplastics mean to them
-Which concerns they have regarding microplastics
-Where they experience and how they avoid microplastics in their homes

Results exercise #1
In this exercise participants first identified what microplastics mean to them by creating word flowers. Then they added their concerns over the flowers with post-its in three levels (low-med-high)
We collected:

We divided these in 7 categories, counted the occurrences and compared concerns with total words

And we made a map to visualise the results:

Exercise #2
In this exercise participants were asked to map where they experience microplastics (in red) and how they avoid microplastics (in green). Different rooms of the house served as base maps for them to draw or write down their thoughts.
